As you all know Baltimore Team Trans was formed in response to an incident of trans discrimination that occurred at Club Hippo on January 30th 2009. We are pleased to announce the following:
1. Club Hippo's general manager has designated two single occupancy restrooms as gender-neutral.
2. Club Hippo has also agreed to work with us to train their staff in a trans positive manner.
3. Our group has received over 350 signatures, 150 facebook group members and 4 organizational endorsements and countless words of support from allies around the world.
We are now working to raise awareness, challenge gender-segregated spaces, create gender-neutral accommodations in other establishments and clarify and expand the gender identity non-discrimination laws in Baltimore.
We could not have done it without the tireless efforts of our members and supporters. Thank You! But our journey is far from over and we ask for your continued support.
We have heard that the Hippo has received threatening letters from people angered about the incident. While we are glad for your support. Please stop sending these letters.
